I Finally Found Something That Helps My Perfectionism
Some days, your body just doesn’t want to perform. But your mind still expects you to.
Some days are just for relaxation.
In our modern society, it has become a thing to turn everything into a task. Even rest, relaxation, and taking a break have become tasks that we need to plan and do.
Yes, there’s value in structure… but over structuring can be a big problem.
The whole productivity-based culture has fooled us into thinking that if we are not always doing something, creating something, and being consistent, we are failing.
So, when it comes to our body’s real needs, such as rest and breaks, we still try to fit that into a very rigid structure, such as “I won’t take a break until it’s the weekend” or “until I finish my entire to do list.”
Why?
Because somewhere, we think we’ll otherwise fail ourselves. We’d be left behind in a certain way. We’d become less productive.
Even meditation has been turned into a task.
“Practice meditation consistently to get results” … these are the kinds of things we hear so often.
Many of you are probably noticing already that trying to force yourself to meditate hardly works. You find yourself dozing off and sleeping. Why? Because your body is saying, “we don’t need meditation, we need sleep.”
"Many of us aren't struggling because we never rest. We're struggling because we don't know how."
We go out of our way sometimes not to listen to our body, and we suffer.
Have you noticed days when you woke up and you were brimming with energy, clarity, and inspiration, and you felt you had the energy to do so many things, and you did?
But what about those other days, where you felt not so good, sluggish, and felt your body wanted to do things at an easier pace, or maybe just rest? You probably forced yourself to do things because you felt… it’s unwise to let the flow of the body dictate your day. Otherwise, how will you be consistent… how will you be productive?
I used to be exactly this way… or worse, even. I used to not listen to my body, and I suffered, health challenges, dysregulation, and days when I was not able to do much of anything at all.
Which is why today, when I woke up and felt that I had medium levels of energy, I knew that I was not going to finish all the stuff on my to do list.
I went easy with myself.
I thought, let’s start with the things that I am naturally excited to do. I allowed myself to do the things my energy naturally wanted to move towards…
In the middle, I allowed myself to rest, a lot. I watched YouTube videos, played my guitar, listened to music, and sang.
Then again, when the energy came, I did some more work… I was very intent on not forcing myself.
"The body moves in rhythms. The mind wants consistency."
I knew my body would remind me exactly when it wanted to do something.
I kept tuning in and listening, and I was able to do a lot of things. Some stuff I did not do, and that’s okay.
But the most important thing is, I listened, I adjusted, and by the time it was evening, I felt I did not push my body beyond its capacity.
That is the single most important win for me.
Not how productive I was. Not how consistent I was about anything. But whether, at the end of the day, I was feeling balanced, aligned, and regulated.
I used to have such a hard time doing just this… it was a pattern for me to always go over my capacity and later regret it. So today was a definite win.
I feel I did things right. I am grateful.
So how are you feeling today?
And what has your body been quietly asking for… that you may or may not have been listening to?
"The most important thing is that I listened, I adjusted, and I did not push my body beyond its capacity."

Many of us move through life appearing steady and capable on the outside, handling our responsibilities, yet internally something feels slightly unsettled, a subtle tension, a sense that something is not fully aligned.
Often, this is part of a deeper inner shift.
My work is for those who are already functioning well in their lives, yet feel drawn to understand their inner experience more deeply and restore a deeper sense of inner harmony within.
I offer a small number of one-hour complimentary discovery conversations over Zoom, depending on my current capacity. This is a one-time exploratory conversation.
These are quiet sessions where we look at what you are currently experiencing and what may be creating that inner disharmony.
During this conversation, we simply explore what is present for you and see whether my work may be supportive. There is no pressure or obligation.
This allows each conversation to receive my full attention.
If you feel a clear resonance with this, you can explore booking a discovery call here.
There is no rush to fix anything. Only a quiet return to yourself, in your own time.
